Progress Update 3/12/2017
Today I filmed with my two actors near the beach, close to Tuned In, in Redcar. This goal for this shoot was to film my scene which showed the distance between the two characters, and give some narrative to my audience about how cold the relationship is.
I worked with an orchestration of shots, including close ups, medium close ups, and long shots.
I struggled with this shoot as I was not able to get an available tripod at my college, so I had to shoot handheld shots rather than have that stability. This made some of my footage quite shaky, and I will try to correct this in the editing process using warp stabilisers.
Furthermore, there was a blur on my camera lens that I could not get rid of no matter how much I cleaned it - though I still filmed and from feedback from fellow peers, they kind of like the effect it creates due to it only smoothing out aspects of the image, and they didn't even realise it was there till I pointed it out.
Although the sun gave some lovely light to my shots, and gave some nice effects like some lens flares, that makes me think of Ayoade's Submarine, giving a nostalgic effect.
Overall I am very pleased with how the shoot went, however it was not cold enough to capture some cold breath that I intended to film. I believe I will reshoot some shots like where my characters are close together as it was very shaking and not shot very well on my behalf.
