Shooting Script/Props & Costume List

Image
As part of my research and planning, I have produced a shooting script that enables me to see what shots need doing, and where, when, how and who I need to be present. I have been editing this for about a week now and it is almost complete as I now just need to fill in blanks about how the shooting is going, in which I will start today. I have colour coded it in terms of grouping rather than anything else, so I can for example see what locations I need the most so I can do most of my filming there. Or if I need a certain actor present, and not need the other. This makes things easier for myself as I can clearly see what I need and when.

Planning Calenders

Image
As part of my planning, I have made a time table of when I am filming throughout the months of November and December, and then a calendar for January as part of my ancillary productions.

Audience Research

Image
For my audience research, I compiled a questionnaire that I handed out to my media class, in which it collected their opinions on different genres of music and their age, and it will help inform my music video. This is the questionnaire I handed out to 10 classmates. These were my results: This information made me conclude that people my age have a differentiation of music genres, and that I should go off my own knowledge of Dodie's target audience as my results were varied. Though it did tell me the kind of job roles that people my age have, like retail and catering, or no job at all. Furthermore most people who like an artist will have merchandise from them, which aids me in my ancillary task for the digipak.

Pitch

Image
As part of the process of creating a music video, I did a pitch to my media class to gather input and also explain my ideas, and throughout the pitch a focus group gave me some ideas and feedback. Here is the video of the pitch, as I explain my ideas and a prezi down below that details each slide from the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wswIB-1laek&feature=youtu.be

Risk Assessment

As part of my research and planning, I have compiled a bunch of risks that can occur within the duration of filming, and possible solutions that can be applied if necessary. This is my Risk Assessment:

Animatic Storyboard

When presenting my pitch, I wanted my audience to have an idea of what I want with my music video, therefore I roughly drew some shots that I would like to include in my music video and compiled it into a video. My drawings do not properly execute how I'd like my shots exactly, but it gives at least an idea of how they should be.                                                                                                               ...

Representation Issues and Ideology

Music Moodboard (Themes, Settings, Characters, Inspiration)

This prezi talks about the different themes, settings, characters, and inspiration that I want to include in my music video. This process helped me develop my ideas well as I now can think about the lyrics of my video and the different shots that I will use. I know what kind of narrative I want to portray with my inspirations, and I have had a chance to think about the locations of my scenes. Soon I will go location scout at different locations that I have in mind and see what it will be like for filming. Furthermore, with my characters I have chosen actors with many factors in consideration, and have started to plan times where I will film. Included in Prezi: Characters (Actors) Inspiration Music Choice Themes Settings

Target Audience Audience + Profile

Image
As part of my research and planning, I had to take into consideration my audience. Fortunately due to the fact I was producing a music video from an existing artist, therefore I can look at their statistics and plan my music video accordingly. This is what I did with Dodie's audience profile, where I went on websites and found her statistics for gender and age, and planned my music video around this as I know as her audience will want to check out my music video for her song. This is what I found:       As shown on the powerpoint slide, and also in my pitch, most of Dodie's audience is female rather than male, therefore in my music video I have tried to appeal to this audience as I have included a romance narrative, as stereotypically females prefer a romance genre/narrative compared to males.   Furthermore most of her audience is under 18, so I have took into consideration that around that age most people are trying to figure out their ide...

Narratives in Music Videos

In this video, it shows several theorists who talk about narrative, in which I apply it to music videos.
