Megan Plant - A2 Media Studies

Today I shot a few clips for my illustrated parts of my music video, including some fire and some ice. I did this at home by myself, and it didn't take too long to do. I did initially plan on using a fire instead of a lighter, however my family did not have enough wood to burn to create a good enough effect, and I wanted to get the shot done, so I decided to use a lighter anyway.

It is going to be a bit when both of my actors are available to do a shoot, therefore I thought I would do some editing in between shoots. As part of the editing process, I decided I would for the first time try Adobe After Effects to try to reduce some noise and grain that was coming up on my footage. I then on Premiere Pro, I added some colour correction to help with the orange face that my subject was getting. As a result I think it was very successful, and I will continue to use this technique in future shots.

Today I did some more filming with my friends, in which it incorporated my other character as I shot some of my montage that was my characters arguing. I worried about the lighting that was present as it was giving an orange glow to the scene like it did to previous shots, however I was not too bothered about it as it can be fixed post edit.   I got quite a lot of shots done within the small amount of time I had, and was content with just making progress as I finally had my other character available. What I need to do now is to do a shoot at my location by Redcar beach, and schedule both of my characters to be there.

Today I am focusing on uploading and editing some shots that I took from Tuesday and trying to assemble them onto my timeline. Although I think this has made me think about re-filming my shots as they make my subject look quite orange and the dark lighting creates a rolling/flickering effect upon the screen. Though before re shooting I think I will try grading and colour correcting it to see if I can try save the footage.   On one shot I kind of like this effect as it means I don't have to grade it much.   Work that I am going to try accomplish today is to try film one of my shots and location scout for other places that I need to shoot at.

For quite few of my shots I wanted to have a car park as the setting when the couple are placed looking at each other.  However I decided that I did not want to endanger my actors as there will be cars around, and it has the same background of the beach.      Therefore I decided to do it on a strip of path that is near to the car park, but only people can walk through. I believe that this would be an ideal place to film as it gives a good background and lighting to the shots I will have composed, but also look slightly dull for the meaning of the scenes that I will be shooting there.  I don't have to think about how windy it will be or the noise that the camera will pick up as I am doing a music video, therefore the song will be playing over it anyway. One trouble I may encounter when progressing at this location, is people walking up and down, but even when I did the location scout you can see clearly on the video that no one was there exce...

Today I filmed the performance shots of my music video and ultimately was not happy with their outcome on the edits. I have decided that I want to reshoot them next week with better lighting, and hopefully film some more shots than I did today. The lighting was too yellow therefore it made my subjects face look orange, and it created rolls and flickers in the footage. I know I want a yellow tone overlay on my footage so I have decided I will add that post production instead.

For a few shots for my music video, I had to film in a bedroom which was my friends. I realised that the lighting was dark and there wasn't much space to do much filming but it was perfect to do my performance shots.
