Chase Scene - Short Film Practice
This is a short clip of a chase scene that I edited together from clips that me and a group of people filmed.
This was my second attempt at editing on Premiere Pro cc 2017 software, and because of this practice clip, I have learnt a lot of techniques that would be helpful for my coursework.
For example, I have learnt about different effects that I could drag and drop onto clips within my timeline. This is like the 'crop' effect to make the letterbox effect. I also experimented with digital zooms, and titles to create a Street Fighter/ Scott Pilgrim- esq feel to the clip.
I particularly like the aerial shot used of the two girls running, as it adds another dimension to the clip as most shorts are medium close ups or mid shots, except the long shots of them actually running. I also like how the beginning goes between the two girls to add tension, along side the music, making it seem like the two girls are going to fight - especially with the slow motion shot of the feet 'running into battle'. Yet the scene takes a comical switch as the music disappears and one of the girls runs away rather than the epic battle that was about to happen.
If I was to improve this scene, I would have a shot reverse shot in the opening, we did infact film one but it got lost, so I would repeat that.
I'd experiment with different shots to make it more faced paced and tense, for example I would go from long shots, to medium close ups, to extreme close ups etc to have some juxtaposition and some orchestration of shots.
Again, this is extra practice of the software I will be using for my music video production.
